Los Angeles Film School for Producers
Robert Turrell
Los Angeles, CA - Film Connection Student

I worked at my mentor's offices for 7-8 hours during my regularly scheduled time which is Wed and Thurs from 10am-2pm. Last week I had helped to sort some footage of a documentary my mentor was filming in Peru.

He showed me the final product he finished from the cutting I started. His final result was really great and I learned how he thinks to create an entertaining captivating final product.

I assisted employee and editor Stephen Yao with getting Compass
connected with websites to sell stock footage that Compass has from
projects they have shot. I learned about Stock Footage and also a little
bit about model release forms while assisting Stephen to get connected
to different sites that sell the stock footage of contributors.

I also went through a few episodes of some compass productions to try and find
5-30 second clips of footage that could be used without model release forms.

New York Film SchoolMichael Donaghey
New York, NY - Film Student

It has been a long 2 weeks. A friend of my mentor's needed an additional cameraman to cover a CD release party for the band Suddyn, who was playing in the Lower East Side last Wednesday. First time shooting the Panasonic HVX 200. An industry workhorse I've come to find out. Learned a ton about different frame rates, how gain affects the overall image captured and how to compose a shot and adjust for light changes on the fly.

A great time filming and some good bands as well! Tim gave me the opportunity to shoot Jordan Sparks while she was recording her new single at Sony studios, two blocks over from the production company that I am learning out of this past week. Had a blast! Met some really talented and successful people from Sony and Jive Records. I shot on the Sony Z1U to DV cassette. Started editing the footage for my reel and in doing so discovered some nice techniques and some really bad ones that I had employed during the three hour shoot.

Been working hard on some fun stuff at the studio. Set up two shoots for June. One with a band from my college: Lucid, and another with an environmental non-profit, the Envirolution.  Learning a ton! Having a blast! This program works.
