Something to consider while you pick the program that's right for you, is the added, hidden cost of relocation plus living expenses once you're there. This can add significantly to the cost of your education.
Additionally, if you relocate, you will most likely be quitting your current job and you will therefore need to start all over again. While this is doable, in today's economy, it can be troublesome. With this in mind, isn't it obvious it's detrimental to your focus? Remember, you're goal is to be a filmmaker, not to be wasting your time finding a new day job in a new city with a higher cost of living than the one you are already living in.
While it's true that Los Angeles and New York may be the centers of the film business, that does not mean you cannot get a decent film education (and a film job) right where you live. Our suggestion: attend a Film Connection Film Institute in your city or town first, and once you gain the necessary experience and connections, then you can consider moving to Los Angeles or New York. But honestly, considering our program connects you into a real film company, you may never need to leave home. However, if you're looking to make it big as a Hollywood Film Director, please see our exciting new program, Program 2 - Learn in Los Angeles
Because our film school is located in real film production companies in just about every city or town in the world, and because your classroom is in that film company, with us you can now go to film school in New York City, film school in Los Angeles, film school in Cincinnati, film school in Chicago, film school in Miami, film school in Dallas, film school in Philadelphia, film school in Seattle, film school in Toronto, film school in London, film school in Sydney, film school in Berlin, film school in Paris, film school in Tokyo, film school in Madrid, film school in Auckland...Get the point?
While you're considering whether to attend the Film Connection Film Institute in your home city, or perhaps make the move to Los Angeles or New York, check out what students from across the United States have said about their local Film Connection Film Institute.
You will learn more in six months with our hands on, real world approach to learning than you can in four years of college….and you’ll learn the right way to do things, the way the pros do it plus tricks of the trade that regular schools don’t even know exist.
Best of all, our courses are among the least expensive available and are a great investment in YOU! Are you tired of your current job? Bored with what you’re doing with your life? Dream of working in the film, movie and TV business? Learn where you earn. Schedule your classes around your day job. No need to relocate.
You see, often overlooked in the cost of education is the relocation, rooming and board charges. Film Connection not only makes it possible to eliminate those costs by providing you a ‘working classroom’ (ie. a real film shoot, film set, tv station or video production) located within easy commuting distance from where you already live. In addition, through ‘flex scheduling’ we can often fit your ‘working classroom’ time around you current job schedule. This means you are not paying a dime extra for relocation, or room and board expenses while you are able to continue to earn from your current job while you learn.
Many teachers at traditional film schools are not working in the real world. We call our teachers “mentors” because they are working every day in the real world and making money. Because of this, our mentors make the best teachers and you get exposed to a plethora of industry contacts: clients, crews, executives, agencies—all the people who can help you get a job in the entertainment field of your choice.
