Your Bangor Film School Alternative

Your traditional big-city film school will do nothing but leave you in debt. The Bangor Film Connection will give you real-world experience and your very own industry contacts to jump-start your filmmaking career at a fraction of what it costs elsewhere. Our two incredible tracks that pair students with professional industry mentors are the 6-month behind the scenes program and the more comprehensive 8-month directors program. The 6-month track is for students who want to focus on a specific area of concentration. The 8-month track pairs you with local mentors who will oversee your project from inception to final cut. At the conclusion of the program, the Bangor Film Connection will fly you out to L.A. to meet with your dream mentors and develop a pitch for your project. You will then get an exclusive pitch meeting with an industry executive. This opportunity doesn’t even come to long-time Hollywood players.

Bangor, Maine is a port city located in the south-central part of the state, about 30 miles upriver from Penobscot Bay. The population of Bangor is approximately 31,000 people, but the surrounding area hosts a population of around 148,000. The gorgeous natural scenery in this area makes it a great place for location filming. In fact, Bangor is the hometown of author Steven King, and several of the film adaptations of his novels have been shot on location here. Maine also benefits from the support of a local film office and state tax incentives that attract filmmakers to the state.  If you are looking at a career in film directing, film production or film editing, Bangor is a pleasant alternative to relocation to New York or Los Angeles–and FILM CONNECTION can help plug you in.

Bangor and the surrounding regions of Maine have hosted the shooting of major motion pictures, including Steven King film adaptations such as Firestarter, Pet Semetary, Graveyard Shift and Thinner.  Other films shot in the area include Forrest Gump, Shutter Island, The Man Without a Face, and the classic film Peyton Place, just to name a few.

FILM CONNECTION students receive their education on real movie sets or TV studios while working on films, television shows and commercials. We pair you with a working professional who serves as your mentor, and you will make vital industry connections while you're learning. Over 70 percent of our graduates get hired, often even before they finish the program. No other Film School gets you in the door like FILM CONNECTION. See what our Bangor film school can do for you!
