Eureka, California is a small town on California's north coast, serving as the county seat for scenic Humboldt County. Its proximity to mountains, ocean views and the majestic redwood forests make it a popular area for location shoots. Entertainment and film industry people who have come from Eureka include singer Sarah Bareilles and actors Lloyd Bridges and Brendan Fraser. While this area does not have the number of film schools that Los Angeles does, Eureka has several film and video production companies, as well as its own film office, and has been the site for numerous major films. For people who are looking for a career in filmmaking as a film director, film producer, film editor, or cameraman, but who do NOT want to relocate to L.A., Eureka can be a great alternative choice.

Some of the well-known movies that have been filmed in Eureka include Humboldt County (the movie), Outbreak, Jennifer Eight, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, the documentary film Where You From, and the TV movie Salem's Lot. Los Angeles is a day's drive or a short plane ride away, making Eureka a great location for both film students and filmmaking professionals.

The Eureka FILM CONNECTION curriculum for its Film School and TV School revolves around the mentor/apprentice relationship. The student works two to three days a week, over a six month period, under the direct supervision of their mentor. Over 70 percent of FILM CONNECTION graduates find meaningful work in the film and television industries, often even before they graduate.  You owe it to yourself to find out what we can do for you.
