Bozeman, Montana is located in the southern part of the state, not far from the scenic beauty of the mountains and about 100 miles from Yellowstone National Park. It’s a fairly small town of about 40,000 people but is growing rapidly, reflecting a growth rate of nearly 40 percent over the past decade. About 85 miles to the west lies Butte, Montana, a mountain town of about 30,000 people. The Bozeman-Butte area benefits from Montana’s film-friendly attitude and generous incentives that attract filmmakers, and as a result, it sees a significant amount of film, television, commercials, and documentary production activity. If you’re looking to start a filmmaking career as a film director, film producer, film editor, or cameraman, the Bozeman-Butte region offers numerous opportunities to learn.
Some of the well-known movies that have been filmed in Bozeman, Butte, and surrounding areas include A River Runs Through It, Far and Away, True Colors, Amazing Grace and Chuck, Evel Knieval, F.T.W. and Wanted, to name a few.
