This isn’t a boring Denver film school classroom. This isn’t an overcrowded college laboratory. This is life. Real Life. YOUR LIFE.

Given the varied and spectacular scenery in and around Denver, and an enthusiastic state film commission, the Mile High City has been home to hundreds of movies, TV shows and specials, and other video productions. It may not have the cache of L.A. or New York, but Denver has a lot to offer the filmmaking industry.

So it should be no surprise there are many Denver film schools to choose from. However, there’s only one that gets you inside an actual Denver film production company to work as a film student extern. We feel it’s the best way to learn directing, producing, editing, camera, screenwriting or general production is to start inside a Denver film production company as a film extern.

Don’t Spend More on your Film Education if You Don’t Have to

We understand many industries require a certain amount of time in the classroom. We just don’t feel the film industry is one of them. Why read about a camera when you can gain real experience operating one? You can’t ask YouTube video questions if you’re getting hung up on something. And online tutorials just can’t offer feedback on your suggestions. With our Denver Film School, you’ll be working one-on-one with an industry insider, seeing how movies, TV, and videos are made firsthand.

Yes, there are still required readings, tests, and homework – we are an educational institution after all. But learning and lending a hand to your mentor and gaining practical experience by being in the middle of the action just isn’t something you can find in most classrooms. Our Directing, Film Production and Editing, and Cinematography courses in Denver cost just a fraction of those private colleges, film schools, and universities.

Get Real World Film Production Experience in Denver

We feel the best way to learn is to do–that’s why we do film education the way it’s meant to be done: hands-on! The sights (and sites), sounds, and even the smells of being on set or on location can’t be beaten. This also gives you the opportunity to learn several different things at once, either through direction or observation. With Film Connection, you don’t need to move to L.A., New York, or other entertainment hubs.

But what if you’re unable to get to your mentor on a consistent basis (for any number of reasons)? For nearly three decades, we’ve been offering externs the chance to learn remotely. Whether it’s a job, family needs, or whatever else, we wanted to make sure externs still had access to industry professionals.

Our Denver Film Industry Mentors Help you Build Real World Connections

The only way we’re able to offer such a unique learning opportunity is by getting great professionals who love to mentor tomorrow’s pros. Not only do they need to be experienced, knowledgeable, and accessible, but they have to take a vested interest in seeing the next generation of filmmakers succeed.

Our mentors have proven time and again they’re able to move between mediums, effortlessly moving between film and digital, big screen to small. You’ll learn how to set the lighting, how to operate a variety of cameras and lenses, and how to edit what you’ve shot. With us, you could be training inside of the production company, on the set, or on-location, working one-on-one with an industry pro.
