Researching film school in New Haven? We’re the New Haven Film Connection, the only school that offers you a chance to work side-by-side with local filmmakers during your education. If you select our 6-month behind-the-scenes track, get ready to work with filmmakers in their studios or production houses. Afterwards you will not only have real-world experience, but your first industry contact for future collaborations. Our more comprehensive 8-month director track partners you with several mentors and culminates with us flying you out to L.A. to pitch your idea before an industry decision-maker. Home to Yale University, the city of New Haven, Connecticut has a population of roughly 123,000, but rests in a metropolitan area of over half a million. New Haven has been home to actors such as Ernest Borgnine, Paul Giamatti, and “ALF” creator Paul Fusco. Major movies, commercials, TV shows and documentaries are frequently filmed here, and several film and television production companies call this area home. New York City, a filmmaking hotspot second only to Los Angeles, is only a short drive away. If you are considering a career in filmmaking as a film director, film producer, film editor, or cameraman, New Haven can be an excellent alternative to relocating somewhere else.
Some of the well known movies that have been filmed in and around New Haven include: The Stepford Wives, The Family Stone, War of the Worlds, Bonfire of the Vanities, Amistad, Revolutionary Road, and Friday the 13th, Part II, just to name a few. The area is no stranger to television production, either, hosting episodes of Deal or No Deal, The Maury Povich Show and others.
FILM CONNECTION students receive their education on real movie sets or TV studios while working on real feature films or television shows and commercials.
