Production School in Trenton, New Jersey

Not like any other school, this is Audio Education Updated, Reimagined, and Revitalized. Are You Ready to Take Your Place?

We took that old stale classroom concept, rebuilt and upgraded it by putting your classroom in a professional recording studio. Then we emptied out all the other students and left only YOU and YOUR TEACHER (yay for one-on-one learning!) who happens to be a pro film producer (with killer credits) to train you privately (at your pace, full time, part time, nights or weekends available).

Not like any other school, this is Audio Education Updated, Reimagined, and Revitalized. Are You Ready to Take Your Place?

We hit different and here is why:

New Jersey is home to some of the best colleges and universities in the nation. Of course, you’ll have to race to register to get the classes that you don’t really want to take, fight for the attention of the professor with other students, and spend four years of your life and pay six figures for the opportunity to do so.

But Film Connection wonders why you’d want to put yourself through all of that. The TRENTON RECORDING CONNECTION AUDIO ENGINEERING AND MUSIC PRODUCTION SCHOOL allows you to set your schedule, design a curriculum around your needs, and start at almost any time. No more waiting around for the next semester to start.

And instead of a classroom, we put you in the middle of the action: a real-world TRENTON RECORDING STUDIO. You’ll get one-on-one facetime with a PRO MUSIC PRODUCER and learn on gear that the professionals use to make the film you listen to today. And we’re able to offer it at a tenth of the cost of some of those “name” universities and you’ll be done in six to nine months.

We understand that many professions require four, six, and even more years of schooling. But film production is a creative industry, where getting your hands dirty in a professional environment as soon as possible is more beneficial. And that’s what the Film Connection provides.

You’ll learn how to bring in clients, how to bring clients in, and even how to pay the bills. You’ll help your mentor with small local acts, regional bands, and perhaps an internationally known superstar. But you’ll also learn about film theory, the physical properties of sound, and how to set up a studio to maximize a session.

Obviously, you aren’t allowed into the operating room your first week of med school. But then again, Dr. Dre didn’t have to go to school for four years to become one of the most successful producers of all time. Ask yourself: What makes more sense?

CLOSE TO HOME OR IN YOUR HOME

10 Miles, 10 Blocks, or 10 Seconds away from your future

Another appealing aspect of the Trenton Film Connection is how close we are to so many Trenton neighborhoods. From Hillcrest to Mill Hill to Villa Park, we offer easy access to our programs. However, what if you want to work with a mentor outside the city limits? Or even across the country?

For more than two decades, we’ve been perfecting our remote learning curriculum. If your computer has enough power, speed, and memory – along with a reliable internet source – you can learn from any mentor in any city.

While other educational institutions scrambled to give their students access during the pandemic in 2020, we didn’t miss a beat. From the beginning, we understood that life can get in the way sometimes. We just don’t want it to keep you from getting a world-class education.

Featured Trenton Film Production Mentors on Location or Remote

The Film Connection offers something no “name” 4-year university or film engineering and film production trade school can. From day one, you’ll be placed in a professional recording studio and receive one-on-one mentoring from award-winning producers and engineers.

With more than 200 locations throughout 48 states, you won’t have to travel thousands of miles for this immersive experience. You learn what it takes to make it in the film business from the inside alongside industry professionals. This includes recording, mixing and mastering, hardware and software, live sound design, and even business skills.

WHAT WE OFFER

Work With the Stars or Amplify Your Sound

We’ll just come out and say it: When it comes to film, or any creative industry, who you know is just as important as what you know. That shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to you, but it begs the question: if you’re just starting out, how do you even begin to get your name out there?

That’s probably the most invaluable part of the Film Connection Audio Engineering and Film Production Program: Opportunity. When you work with your mentor, it’s your chance to show them – and yourself – you belong there. Whether it’s tidying up the office during the time between sessions or stepping up to lead a session yourself, consider this your interview.

But you’re not just here to impress your mentor. How you interact with clients and other film producers during these sessions will go a long way to getting their number in your phone. It could be anticipating when a singer needs another bottle of water or introducing a slight tweak to improve an established beat.

Being responsible. Doing what you say you’re going to do. Putting away the phone when you’re supposed to be working – unless you’re trying to bring in a new client into the studio. These are the actions of someone who wants to be in the business. And, more importantly, wants to stay there.

Our most successful graduates found work in the studios they externed with, were hired by other recording studios, or put in the work to open their own studios. There have been times a student has been hired halfway through the program because they made themselves indispensable.

If you can do that, clients will be asking to put your number in their phones. We give you the opportunities to make a name for yourself. But it’s up to you how your name will be remembered.

TRENTON, NJ, MENTOR INFORMATION

The most successful producers are the ones that can work with anyone at any time. The Trenton Film Connection engineers and producers who mentor our students have worked with well-known artists such as Barenaked Ladies, Sarah Cole, Dave Lombardo, and Pancho Tomaselli. Other clients include Universal, All Things Considered, Pod Save America, and various podcasts, orchestras, and theater companies.

From work in the studio to festivals, our Trenton mentors are equipped to handle it all. In addition to a full recording studio and rehearsal hall, they have the resources to record live film on location. You’ll learn how to work in controlled environments as well as how to mitigate issues when doing a live performance.By growing your knowledge base, you’ll be able to increase the number of clients you can bring in and be someone who can work across multiple genres, a huge benefit in today’s fast-moving industry where genres are constantly influencing one another.  The Dr. Dres and Rick Rubins of the world have the ability to pick and choose who they work with. Maybe one day you will too. But for now, learning how to switch gears at a moment’s notice and get the etiquette, skills, and knowhow it takes to build that roster of clients—and keep them coming back—is a smart place to start.
