Why move to L.A. or New York to study film when we’ve got a better program right here in Helena? That’s right, Film Connection Film School in Helena, MT gives you experience in the real world, not in some classroom. You’ll get industry contacts in your filmmaking community during our 6-month behind the scenes program. You’ll partner with local mentors who will manage your personal project and give you the inside scoop on what it takes to be a real working professional. And if the complete film experience is more your speed, then the 8-month directors track is what you want to try. Your local mentors will help you write, direct, and edit your project. Additionally, you will be working closely with dream mentors who are located in Los Angeles. They’ll be there when you arrive during your last week of the program for an in-person pitch meeting with an industry executive.
Helena is the capital city of Montana, located in the west-central part of the state, and hosting a population of around 30,000 people. Several entertainment industry people have hailed from the Helena area, including actors Gary Cooper, Myrna Loy, Dirk Benedict and Lane Chandler. Helena is also surrounded by diverse landscapes and natural beauty, including flatlands, mountains, rivers, forests and more–making it excellent for location filmmaking. Movies, TV shows, commercials and documentaries are filmed throughout Montana on a regular basis, including in and around the Helena area. Some of the films that have done location shooting around Helena and/or the surrounding regions of Montana include Northfork, The Slaughter Rule, The Untouchables, Don’t Come Knocking, Wanted, F.T.W., and Evel Knievel, to name a few.
The secret to FILM CONNECTION’s success is our mentor-extern approach. During our inexpensive, 6-month course, you’ll be paired with a working film or television professional who serves as your personal instructor and mentor, giving you hands-on training and enabling you to make vital industry contacts along the way.
