Working professionals know filmmaking, not professors who lecture. We’ve teamed up with locals in your area to bring you a unique filmmaking program called Amarillo Film Connection. You can choose our 6-month film behind-the-scenes track that partners you up with local industry professionals or be the big cheese and dive into our 8-month director’s track. Our director’s track has your local mentors steering you through the writing, shooting, and editing process. Additionally, every student in the director’s track has a dream mentor, an industry veteran located in Los Angeles. Hollywood better get ready for you because we’ll be flying you out to L.A. during the last week of your studies to have your own Hollywood pitch meeting with an industry executive.
Located in the panhandle area of northern Texas, the city of Amarillo is home to roughly 200,000 people and is largely supported by industries such as meat processing, petroleum and helium. Worth. Major movies, commercials, TV shows, and documentaries are filmed all over Texas on a regular basis, including in Amarillo and the panhandle area. A sampling of the movies that have been filmed in Amarillo and the surrounding regions of Texas include Waking Up In Reno, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, What Matters Most, film classic The Sundowners, and the documentary Beyond the Mat, to name a few. Television production is no stranger to Amarillo, either; episodes of such series as Rescue 911, NASCAR Nation, and Man Vs. Food have been filmed here, among others.
