What to Expect at the Film Connection?

What Should I Expect from the Film Connection Program?

So what happens after you say, “Hell’s to the ya, I’m signing up”? Well, first you pick a genre. Are you a horror guy? Or maybe you want to make feel good Disney-esque films. Or is comedy or thriller your thing? Whatever your genre is, we’ll pair you with various mentors who will help you develop your dream movie idea into a screenplay and a pitch. Pitching is the art of telling someone verbally in 10 minutes or less exactly why your movie is so amazing that it should get funded and made. Every movie you have ever seen started with a pitch. Most film school students and filmmaking wannabes spend years trying to break down doors to get inside and pitch their dream movie idea. With us, you’re inside that door, pitching your heart out, in 6-8 months.

As you work on your screenplay and pitch with the pros, you will also be working one-on-one with a filmmaking professional (your mentor) in your city or town, and he or she will train you on real film sets as a film extern. You will learn lighting, camera, working with talent, sound, and post-production–in short, all of the technical aspects of the filmmaking process from the point of view of the Director, Producer, DP, and Editor.

But as you learn the technical aspects, we won’t let you lose sight of your ultimate goal: the development of your dream movie idea. Do you have the next Pulp Fiction? The next Evil Dead? The next Saw? The next Anchorman? The next hot zombie movie? Well, we are the only film school that helps you develop that idea that could catapult you into the stratosphere of success like your filmmaking heroes.

As you work in your hometown learning filmmaking techniques, you are also constantly writing and perfecting your screenplay, taking classes in the art of the pitch, line producing, budgeting and learning the business side of making movies.

All of this leads to one place: Hollywood.

Upon graduation from our film school, you will fly out to L.A. or New York for the most important meeting of your life, the pitch meeting. It will be you and a major Hollywood producer, and you will have 30 minutes to convince him or her that your movie is worthy of being made.
