Tom Malloy, Producer, Writer, Actor, Mentor

As a seven-time winner on the film festival circuit, either as an actor, writer, or producer, Tom Malloy has been working in Hollywood for more than two decades. As President of Glass House Distribution, Malloy gets films in front of the right people to get them sold.

Over the past five years, Malloy has won awards for his acting (Hero of the Underworld, 2015, Atlantic City Cinefest), producing (Ashley, 2014, Atlantic City Cinefest, best LGBT feature), and was nominated for best screenplay feature at the 2016 Nightmares Film Festival for #Screamers.

Although Malloy received his first acting credit in 1995 with Gravesend, success came fast for him. The indie film earned a Best Feature Film nomination at the Torino International Festival of Young Cinema in 1997. From there, Malloy appeared in several movies and acclaimed TV shows, such as Third Watch and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Malloy ramped up his triple-threat status in 2005 when he opened Trick Candle Productions. Beginning with a couple of documentaries (High Roller: The Bob Perry Story and In a Single Bound), Malloy produced The Alphabet Killer. Starring Eliza Dushku, Cary Elwes, Timothy Hutton, Michael Ironside, himself, and Oscar winner Melissa Leo, the movie was directed by Rob Schmidt.

Dushku was nominated for Best Actress at the 2009 Fangoria Chainsaw Awards for her performance. Malloy followed with The Attic, a thriller directed by Mary Lambert and starring John Savage, Elisabeth Moss, and himself. Malloy turned to romantic comedy soon thereafter, producing and starring in Love N’ Dancing. The movie also stars Amy Smart, Billy Zane, and Betty White and was directed by Rob Iscove.

In addition to his filmmaking credentials, Malloy also wrote the book Bankroll, a best-seller that takes a look at financing independent films. In 2020, Malloy has two more films in post-production and is filming a third.

With a total of seven wins and nine nominations, Malloy has the experience and knowledge to produce solid films on the indie circuit. He’s worked with different actors, different crews, different directors, and different backers to realize his dream of becoming a filmmaker. He knows what it takes to build a career in film.
