Real Connections in the Filmmaking Industry
Ever hear the old phrase, “It’s not what you know, but who you know”? Well it’s never more true anywhere than in Hollywood. The town is built on relationships. That’s why the fact that you will have worked with Hollywood players during your course makes you “connected.” In fact, don’t just look at it as having a handful of connections, because each person you’ll meet has at least 40 more people to whom they can introduce you. It’s like a domino effect, in the best way possible.
The coolest part is that if your mentors get excited about you and your project, they can introduce you to more industry people, and you may actually find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Seriously, this is no hard sell—this is how the industry works. So the smart thing you can do for your career is to show your mentors what you’ve got. Show your passion, your drive, and, most importantly, your talent. You’ll have about 6 months to do it. Use it wisely.
By the end of our program, you’ll have numerous key contacts within the industry. You’ll have your Technical Mentor, your Director Mentor, Your Screenwriting Mentor, your Acting Mentor, your Editing Mentor, and your Dream Mentor. These are all people with whom you’ve worked diligently to develop steadfast relationships. These are connections that you’re going to have for the rest of your life. These are connections that you‘ll be able to utilize in the future. Also, one key element that no one ever talks about is that in Hollywood you never know who’s married to whom. It’s always a good policy to treat everyone as if they know the person who can give your movie the greenlight, because they just might.
After this program is over, you’ll have countless connections in the filmmaking industry.
