What can I expect from this workshop?

Welcome! The Art, Craft and Business of Screenwriting with Ron Osborn is designed to relate to you all the foundational information you need to write Three-Act Structure and take the business side of things into account including:

Insider information, tips, and factors to consider, gleaned over 30 years of experience by screenwriter Ron Osborn (Meet Joe Black, The West Wing, Duckman).

These lessons are designed and ordered so that you can take a one-line idea and develop it over the coming weeks into a story with a beginning, middle, and end.

Want to get the most out of this workshop? Do everything that’s asked of you!

Watch all the lessons. Invest in yourself by thoughtfully doing the assignments so that upon completion, you will be able to take all you’ve learned and developed and write a complete, full-length screenplay either on your own or with a mentor. Furthermore, having learned the foundations of Three-Act Structure, you should be able to write another screenplay, and another after that.

After Week 3 you will have 3 one-line notions which you feel may have the potential of making a good script (we will uncover what that means in greater detail). As we progress through the lessons, you will apply what you’re learning to that idea. There’s no pressure to perform but there will be homework which includes reading various texts, writing, rewriting, and watching films.

Whether screenwriting is new to you or something you’ve been doing for years, bring an open mindset, your unique self, and your energy to this workshop and learn what it takes to write scripts which have a chance of getting read and sold.
