The Albuquerque Film Connection is an innovative film school that provides aspiring filmmakers with the opportunity to pursue their craft in a unique way. Unlike traditional film schools, the Film Connection utilizes a mentor-extern model, pairing up students with established industry professionals who can help guide them through their filmmaking journey.
Through this approach, you gain real-world experience and develop valuable professional connections, all while receiving quality instruction from seasoned professionals in their field. It's the kind of experience that just can’t be matched in a classroom setting. By working on real-world projects, you get first-hand knowledge of what it takes to make movies, tv shows, videos, commercials, and more.
At the Albuquerque Film Connection, students are able to learn the essential skills of filmmaking such as camera operation, lighting design, and editing. The program offers courses covering topics like script writing, directing, producing, cinematography, post-production, and special effects. From writing a “Killer Script” to lighting in terrible conditions, your hands-on education helps develop your problem-solving and collaboration skills.
You don’t need to take prerequisites or have existing experience in the industry to enroll at the Albuquerque Film Connection. We make our programs available to any and all students that want to pursue a career in filmmaking or want to hone the skills they already have. Although our curriculum is structured, we concentrate on your strengths to put you in a position to find the job you want.
One of the most valuable aspects of Film Connection is the opportunity to work with potential employers or those that can help make your movies after you’ve finished our programs. Our mentors are established professionals that have strong ties in the Albuquerque film industry, which means they can hear about potential jobs and pass on your name if you’ve shown dedication, responsibility, and a willingness to learn.
Want to make your own movies? You’ll be rubbing elbows with those that can help make you tell your story. Need help with lighting, sound, location scouting, and more? You can lean on other professionals that may be willing to help you learn and help you finish your project. Establishing strong working relationships is invaluable when it comes to making films.
The Albuquerque Film Connection also provides its students with additional career support services like resume building tips and job interview preparation advice in order to help them stand out from the competition when searching for employment after graduation. This comprehensive approach ensures that graduates of the school have all the necessary tools they need for success in the competitive world of filmmaking.
Many of our externs are hired by the companies that learned in while others find work in other filmmaking outfits based on good word of mouth. We offer all students up to one year of job placement services upon program completion. Albuquerque Film Connection is an excellent choice for anyone interested in entering or advancing their career within the film industry as it offers not only top-notch instruction but also invaluable resources that will make you more appealing to potential employers.
