Did you know that Darren Aronofsky dropped out of NYU his senior year? Yeah, he used his tuition money to make Pi. Yeah, you’re totally right. Film schools are a pointless waste of time. There’s almost no correlation between film school and a career in the film industry.
That is unless you’re looking at Film Connection Film School in Burlington, Vermont. Y’see the Film Connection isn’t like most film schools. It operates on an apprentice/mentor basis.
You’ll be paired with a working industry professional who is in the same field that you’d like to be in.
You’ll also be working with a Hollywood screenwriter to create the first draft of a screenplay that you’ll direct. Sound awesome? That’s because it is. It’s awesome because you’re awesome. You’ll also be working with an editor to cut together the footage that you shoot.
Here’s the best part, the end of our program is you flying out to Hollywood to pitch your script to a real studio exec who could green light it. No guarantees, of course. But still. We’ll get you in the room.

Burlington is the largest city in the state of Vermont, located in the northeast part of the state along Lake Champlain. Although its population rests at just under 40,000 people, about a third of the total population of Vermont lives within the surrounding metro area. Burlington enjoys a wide diversity of beautiful scenery nearby, including lake shores, mountains and forests, and is also in driving distance to major cities like Boston and Montreal–making it a good central hub for filming locations.
Burlington, Vermont might not be the first place you’d think of as a site for major productions, but in fact a significant number of movies, TV shows and documentaries are filmed in and around this area on a regular basis. Just a few of the films shot in Burlington and surrounding areas include Me, Myself & Irene, What Lies Beneath, Changeling, Star Trek (2009), The Cider House Rules and the classic filmal film Grease, just to name a few.
