You’ll also get industry contacts that Hollywood insiders would kill for. Choose our 6-month behind the scenes program to connect with working professionals in your area that will mentor you in their studios or production houses. At the conclusion of this track, you will be in control of your filmmaking future and have the kind of experience that stands out with employers. Our 8-month director track will link you with local mentors and dream mentors in Los Angeles. During the final week of this program, we fly you out to L.A. so you can pitch your idea before an industry executive. Lafayette, Indiana is a growing town of around 65,000 people, located about an hour northwest of Indianapolis. It's currently a fast-growing area despite the recession, having increased in population over 16 percent in the past decade. A number of famous entertainers hail from this area, including rock singer Axl Rose (Guns 'N' Roses), jazz guitarist Ken Navarro, film directors John Korty and Sydney Pollack, and actresses Karen Black and Tammy Lynn Michaels. Despite its size, Lafayette has opportunities for you if you aspire to be a film director, film producer or film editor–and FILM CONNECTION can help.
Just a few of the films that have been shot in Lafayette and surrounding areas include Going All the Way, Hoosiers, Eagle Eye and others. Additionally, several television shows have done production in this area, including Rescue 911, Daily Planet, and Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Lafayette's close proximity to Indianapolis makes it a surprising alternative for film students who want to connect with film professionals.
FILM CONNECTION's unique educational approach is called the mentor-extern approach. Our six-month program places you with a local Lafayette film or television professional who instructs and mentors you, giving you hands-on experience with film and video shoots and helping you make vital industry connections along the way.
