Real filmmaking education. Real film industry connections.

An Immersive
Film Education

From directing to producing to editing and screenwriting, our externship-based, mentor-taught programs avoid the unnecessary costs and unrelated requirements of ordinary film schools and programs. Work directly with an accomplished industry filmmaker at a fully-equipped film production company.

Programs

You will study inside a real film production company in your city as you develop your movie idea with a professional filmmaker. Then you will fly to Los Angeles or New York to pitch your idea to an executive that could buy or get your movie idea made.

Film Production & Editing Details

The screenwriter is the person who creates, takes, or adapts an idea and formulates a screenplay. Without the writer, there would be no movie. Period. He or she is the starting gate. He or she is the person that starts the ball rolling down the hill.

Screenwriting Details

In many ways the film editor is the most misunderstood of all film professionals. Often considered just a film technician, a good editor is, without doubt, much more than that. He or she is also a qualified storyteller of the highest order.

Film Editing Details

The cinematographer is literally the set ‘magician.’ DPs are responsible for the technological wizardry to help create the needed light, while at the same time also having the keen sensibility to shape the light for the greatest artistic effect.

The Presque Isle, Maine Film Connection Film School Alternative

Do you know how many people have lost their shirts trying to make in L.A. or New York? Did you know that there’s an awesome film school right here in Presque Isle? Welcome to Presque Isle Film Connection, the only way to meet industry professionals that it would take you years to find on your own. It’s an experience and education that no other film program provides. To APPLY for our Presque Isle Film School, click here. Presque Isle, Maine is a small town of about 9000 people, located in the northern part of the state. Perhaps its most significant historical contribution as a city is in the area of hot-air ballooning, being the launch site for the first successful transatlantic balloon crossing in 1978. Nowadays, each year in late August, Presque Isle hosts the Crown of Maine Balloon Festival to commemorate the event.  The Presque Isle area is loaded with beautiful natural scenery, making it a great area for location filming. Other film location hotspots like Bangor and Portland are within driving distance. Additionally, the State of Maine offers generous tax incentive packages for filmmakers who shoot here. Thus, for the seeming remoteness of this state, there is a remarkable amount of filming that goes on. If you are looking at a career as a film director, film producer, film editor or cameraperson, you'll find more opportunities here in Presque Isle than you think. Some examples of the movies that have been shot in Maine include Forrest Gump, Shutter Island, Darkness Falls, Jumanji, Pet Semetary, Message in a Bottle, The Good Son and In the Bedroom, just to name a few.  FILM CONNECTION of Presque Isle helps you get connected while you get educated. Our revolutionary approach pairs you with a working film or television professional who serves as your instructor-mentor.  You'll gain valuable hands-on experience and make vital industry connections along the way. Our sytem works, too! Over 70 percent of our graduates get hired, many even before they finish our program. Come find out what our Presque Isle film school can do for your career.
