Your North Carolina Film School Alternative

If you want to break into the Hollywood film industry as a cinematographer, film editor, film producer, director or screenwriter, your path to Hollywood can start in North Carolina.  The North Carolina Film Connection is by far the best film school in the state because we offer you unprecedented opportunities to connect directly to the film industry that other film schools can’t offer.

Imagine learning the filmmaking arts one-on-one from a seasoned filmmaker who has real films to his/her credit, rather than from a career classroom instructor.  Imagine going to class on-the-job and on the set, rather than on an isolated campus.  Imagine gaining valuable work experience and making career-making industry connections while you’re a student, rather than trying to make those connections after you graduate.  And imagine doing all these things with little or no student debt!  If you can imagine all this, then you should know that with the North Carolina Film Connection, this is not fantasy: it’s reality.  We place you as a working apprentice (extern) in a real film production company, and we train you one-on-one by pairing you with a real film industry pro.  AND…we do it for one of the lowest tuition rates you’ll find anywhere.

The best part is that you don’t have to move to Hollywood to connect to the film industry; there are plenty of opportunities to make those connections right here in North Carolina.

Need proof? Take a look at just a few of the major motion pictures and television productions that have been shot on location in North Carolina, or on North Carolina sound stages:

  • The Hunger Games (2012)
  • Iron Man 3 (2013)
  • The Green Mile (1999)
  • Forrest Gump (1994)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)
  • Dirty Dancing (1987)
  • The Color Purple (1985)
  • We’re the Millers (2013)
  • Tammy (2014)
  • Dawson’s Creek (TV series, 1998-2003)
  • Hart of Dixie (TV series, 2011-present)
  • Revolution (TV series, 2012-present)

North Carolina is a film-friendly state with an emerging film industry, including great locations and several film studios located throughout the state.  The list above doesn’t even come close to the number of film and TV projects shot here on a regular basis, so you can see there are plenty of opportunities to connect—IF you have the right connections and can get your foot in the door.  With most film schools, the only door you get into is the door to a classroom; with the North Carolina Film Connection’s on-the-job training, you get in the door of a real production facility, from day one of your training.

Our one-of-a-kind program is fully accredited, and we’re endorsed by some of the most influential people in the industry, many of whom choose to teach our students.  Our on-the-job teaching approach means you won’t spend a single day in a classroom.  Whether your field of interest is in screenwriting, editing, cinematography or other film disciplines, we have mentors specializing in these areas who can tailor the curriculum to your needs.  And if your goal is to break into Hollywood with your own film, your mentor will even guide you through the process of preparing and developing your film idea, and then we’ll arrange for you to go to Los Angeles and pitch your film to ACTUAL FILM INDUSTRY EXECUTIVES.  (When we say your path to Hollywood starts in North Carolina, this is what we mean!)

But all of this opportunity is worthless if you graduate film school buried in student debt—that’s the worst way to start a career.  With other film schools, debt is practically inevitable—but not with us.  We keep our tuition rates about 75% LOWER than the other guys, so you can concentrate on launching your film career, rather than worrying about how to pay your debts.
