Entertainment Connection Mentor Apprenticeship Program Tuitions Accommodate President Obama's Education Bill

Los Angeles, California, (MarketWire) February 26, 2009–The Entertainment Career Connection, Inc., offering certificate programs in all aspects of filmmaking, radio broadcasting and audio engineering, affirms its commitment to America with affordable apprentice program tuitions and free books.

For the last 25 years more than 6,000 students have graduated from Entertainment Career Connection apprenticeships and intern programs, creating a vast alumni network worldwide. The company provides mentor extern programs for the entertainment arts including the film, radio, television and music recording industries.

President Obama said in his message to Congress on February 24, 2009, “I ask every American to commit to higher education or career training. This can be a community college or four year school, vocational training, or an externship.” The president said knowledge is the “most valuable skill you can sell,” and went on to say a good education is no longer a pathway to opportunity but a necessity.

“Attending a college or university at a cost of $25,000 to $50,000 might be a challenge these days, however, our extern programs are affordable. In the spirit of working with America and the new adminstration, our entertainment Connection programs only cost $7,450 for everything, including tuition, books, curriculum, instructor and more,” said James (Jimi) Petula, founder and chief executive officer of the Entertainment Career Connection, Inc. “We know what every single entertainment business professional knows — the only way to get a job in the music recording, radio or film business, is to learn via an extern.”

Student testimonials about the extern programs abound. Nine years ago, Preston Boebel was clueless about the workings of a recording studio. When he first came across the Recording Connection’s website he was skeptical, however, the day he stepped inside a real recording studio he was convinced his life was about to change. Now, Boebel, an Entertainment Career Connection graduate from the Los Angeles recording school, is chief engineer at Clear Lake Audio in Hollywood, California. The mentor faculty proactively teaches both professional and technical skills, which helps to bridge the gap between academia and the workplace.

For students who want to learn to be a recording engineer, film director or radio host, the entertainment Connection extern programs are taught in one-on-one private sessions under the direct supervision of industry professionals. Students work on real-world projects and also go through a course curriculum. No experience is required and students can take classes part time during night or weekend sessions, training around a current job.

“Mentoring the Recording Connection students who come into the studio and begin processing and doing stuff is the most rewarding thing. They’re actually involved in all aspects of the studio,” said program mentor, Donny Baker, also an engineer and producer. “Recording school alternative students don’t just learn to record, they learn the studio business.”

The Film Connection offers a variety of financial aid packages to students who qualify, not including Sallie Mae.
