The Massachusetts Film Connection provides unprecedented opportunities to connect with the film industry that other film schools just can’t match. What’s different about us? Unlike other schools that simply stick you in a college or trade school classroom, we get you in the door of a real film production company, where you learn on-the-job as an extern from your very first day until the day you graduate. You’ll learn one-on-one from a seasoned film industry professional, you’ll gain valuable work experience on actual productions, and you’ll make lots of important connections to further your career—all while the other film students sit in their classrooms far from where the action is happening.
What do you want to do in film? Do you want to be a cinematographer? A film editor? An effects supervisor? A screenwriter? A producer? Do you want to direct your own films in Hollywood? We can help with all that, by pairing you with a professional who specializes in your field of interest, and by putting you in direct contact with the film industry for the entire duration of your training. Your path to Hollywood starts with the Massachusetts Film Connection.
Due to its many diverse locations and generous incentives offered by the state, Massachusetts sees many major motion picture and television productions coming to shoot here on location.
As you can see, there are many opportunities to connect to the film business here in Massachusetts, and the Film Connection can help you connect to those opportunities like no other film school can.
Our film training program receives glowing endorsements from hundreds of industry professionals, many of whom choose to teach for us. Why? Because they know our on-the-job approach is the most effective way to learn the ropes. Classrooms can’t teach you what real-world experience can. What’s more, this is a business that lives and breathes by connections, and you can’t make those connections sitting in a classroom. With our approach, you are paired with a working industry professional who specializes in your field of interest. You’ll work through a curriculum and even do homework, but the real takeaway comes from the many hours of experience you’ll get by learning on-the-job and on the set. And if your dream is to break into Hollywood to make your own films, your mentor will steer the curriculum toward helping you develop your very own film idea from concept to completion—and then, when you’re ready, we’ll arrange for you to PITCH YOUR FILM to real Hollywood executives! Do you know of any other film school that offers this? (Not likely—we’re the only one.)
Of course, none of this amounts to much if you graduate with a crippling amount of student debt. Other film schools charge ridiculous tuition rates that practically force you into debt—but not the Massachusetts Film Connection. For all the direct contact and on-the-job industry experience you receive, you’ll pay 75% LESS TUITION than the other film schools charge.
Don’t spend all that money to be a student sitting in a classroom. Be an extern in a real film production company, and become an industry insider while you’re learning the ropes! Are you ready to get started on your film career? Are you ready to get ahead of the pack? APPLY NOW FOR FREE to learn more!

In the Film Connection for Film Production & Editing program, you will study directing, producing and screenwriting as you develop your movie idea with a professional filmmaker. Then, upon meeting the necessary requirements, you will be given the opportunity to fly to Los Angeles or New York and pitch your film idea to an executive who could buy or get your movie made.Film Production & Editing Details
In the Film Connection for Cinematography program, you will learn the techniques involved in capturing a moving image and will start to develop “the eye of the DP.” The cinematographer is literally the set ‘magician.’ DPs are responsible for the technological wizardry required to get the needed shots and to shape light to achieve the director’s desired artistic effect.Cinematography Details
The screenwriter is the person who creates, takes, or adapts an idea and formulates a screenplay. Without the writer, there would be no movie. Period. He or she is the starting gate. He or she is the person who gets the ball rolling down the hill.
In the Film Connection for Screenwriting workshop, you will learn the elements that make for a “Killer Script” by developing and writing your own feature length screenplay under the direction and mentorship of a working professional screenwriter.
In many ways the film editor is the most misunderstood of all film professionals. Often considered just a film technician, a good editor is so much more than that. He or she is also a qualified storyteller of the highest order.
In the Film Connection for Film Editing workshop, you will develop your knowledge of storytelling and screenplay structure as the foundational blueprint of a film. You will also develop your technical understanding of editing as an extern to a professional editor in a post-production facility in-person or online.
Why learn from teachers when you can learn from the professionals?

“The Recording Radio and Film Connection is such an effective program, because it takes the student out of the classroom and puts them in the very field they seek to be a part of. With mentors that actually work in the student’s respective field, they get first-hand knowledge of how everything works and just what to do. I think it’s the best way to get hands-on experience and the lessons learned are very valuable. I also think that the interview process helps to match a student with a mentor that will be right for them.” – Sam Borowski

I’ve written for many of the major studios and networks. My first movie, “Red Rock West,” was nominated for Best Screenplay by the Independent Spirit Awards.
I think this program is fantastic. I get to spend an hour a week, one-on-one with my students. We read over their material carefully. It affords me the opportunity to dig deep and get into the details of screenwriting – a deceptively complicated craft. We can cover various aspects of formatting, different styles of writing and how they impact the reader – which ultimately determines the filmic outcome and audience sees on screen.
The time allows me to get know my students so that I’m able to help them put some part of themselves into their stories.
Once you get past the basics, screenwriting is about story. And we all have one to tell. The more personal that is, the more impact it will have.
The terrific thing I get to experience with Film Connection, because of the one-on-one time I have with my students, is the growth they achieve in their writingRequest an Invitation
