Your Bismarck Film School Alternative

This just in: the days of paying through the nose for a superior film education are over. We’re Bismarck Film Connection and we pair students with local film professionals in order to give them real-world experience and industry contacts. Through our two programs, we graduate filmmakers that people want to hire. The first is a 6-month behind the scenes program that will link you up with local mentors. Our longer track is our directors program, which lasts eight months. Here you are partnered up not just with local mentors who guide you as you write, direct, and edit your project, but a dream mentor in Los Angeles, too. The final week of your program you’ll be on a plane to L.A. to pitch your idea to an industry executive. Don’t waste your money on lectures and papers. Get trained like the pros!

Bismarck, North Dakota is the state capital and second largest city in the state of North Dakota, anchoring a metro area population of over 100,000 people. Situated near the center of the state along the Missouri River, Bismarck also serves as a major transportation and commercial hub for the surrounding region. The Bismarck area is popular for outdoor activities, particularly hunting and fishing, and also boasts lots of parks and exercise trails. Several film or television production companies make their home in Bismarck, as well–making it a surprising choice for people who desire to learn that industry.  And FILM CONNECTION of Bismarck can get your foot in the door.

Movies, TV shows, commercials and documentaries are regularly shot throughout North Dakota, including in the Bismarck area.  Some of the movies that have been filmed in Bismarck and surrounding regions of the state include Dead Dogs, Fargo, Wooly Boys, Northern Lights, the documentary film Jesus Camp, and the made-for-TV movie History Hogs.

The secret to FILM CONNECTION's success is our mentor-apprentice (extern) approach. During our inexpensive, 6-month course, you'll be paired with a working film or television professional who serves as your personal instructor and mentor, guiding you through hands-on training on real film and video shoots. Along the way, you'll make industry connections that can lead to future employment. The fruit of our revolutionary system is in our graduates; over 70 percent of them get hired in the industry, many times before they even finish our progam. You owe it to yourself to see what FILM CONNECTION of Bismarck can do for your career!
